Liz Stegmeir: Her Dream Became A Reality
Having a calling to dedicate herself to rescuing animals, Liz Stegmeir had a dream of running her own rescue. Her nine years of knowledge and expertise were built on her successful management at the Circle L Ranch Animal Rescue until the division closed. Based on the desperate need for a new rescue in the Prescott community, and the support of past staff and volunteers at Circle L Ranch, Liz set out to fulfill her dream.
With the generous donation of 10 acres, located in Poland Junction near Mayer, Liz had her start. The property included a beautiful barn and pastures with fencing, and Liz began to envision a Western town theme with “bunkhouses” where the dogs would have a lot of freedom and playmates.
With the help of volunteers, six bunkhouses were built, and the barn was converted to include a “meet and greet” room, a volunteer room, office, storage and more. A “tiny” house was built on the property, with a second one currently under construction, to allow staff to be on-site 24/7.
Her dream became a reality and in 2018 a new rescue was established - AARF Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. Funded by donations, in January 2020 an off leash play yard was opened.
AARF offers adoption, rescue, and sanctuary to all dogs in need. We work with dogs within the state of Arizona.
The mission of AARF is simple: Rescue one by one...Until there are None
Fundraising, Donations and Volunteers, as well as public awareness and support are critical to making our rescue a success. Donations, both monetary and of materials, will ensure the success of Liz’s dream. Please call 928-925-7219 for more information or e-mail us at aarfanimalrescue@gmail.com.
